Back in the Saddle – Sort of.

Hello, everyone!

We have more or less successfully survived our move  – sifting, packing and unpacking 25 years worth of stuff does not come without at least a few headaches – and I’m happy to report that I’ve got my new office set up and hope to get back to posting restorations again soon.

Setting up the worktable and ancillary equipment will take some doing yet, but in the meantime, I wanted to update you all on a few changes coming to the blog.

Many of you have already noticed the disappearance of the DadsPipes Store. I have rather mixed feelings about this move, but ongoing health issues have made it difficult for me to maintain what I consider an acceptable pace of operations and a professional level of customer service.

As a result, I have decided to close down the business side of DadsPipes and will carry on with pipe repairs and restorations as a hobbyist only. I will, as always, remain available to answer your pipe questions and will continue to help the piping community in any way I can going forward.

In a way, this move signals a return to the origins of the DadsPipes blog and my own entry into the piping hobby. Now, as then, my goal is to continue to develop my own restoration and repair skills, collect and preserve pipe history and share my findings, tips and techniques with the greater piping community. From a practical point of view, then, not much will change for DadsPipes readers.

For those of you who may have been watching a pipe on the DadsPipes Store, some inventory is still available. Contact me to inquire. Also, feel free to drop me a line if you see a pipe featured in a blog post that you might like to add to your own rack – I can’t keep them all!

That’s about it for now, folks. I’m hoping to get my worktable set up and my hands on a pipe again as soon as this heat wave breaks here in Southern Ontario (40C Humidex levels are NOT conducive to focused concentration!). You can expect to see a pipe post on the blog shortly afterwards.

Thanks for dropping by and catching up. Until next time, Happy Piping!

  1. Charles, glad to hear that you move has happened and set up has commenced. I’m sorry to hear that you are scaling back, but very glad to hear that your presence will still be evident on Dad’s Pipes. Very glad to hear that. Prayers are with you as you continue through your transitions.

    1. Thanks Dal. I appreciate the support. While I hope for improved circumstances, for now I have to live with the ones I have. I’ve got a box of pipes waiting; it’s a blessing that I can tackle them in my own time as I like now. 😁
