DadsPipes Turns Ten!

On July 19, 2025, DadsPipes hit a significant milestone – 10 years of pipe repairs and restorations!

I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported the site and the business over what has been a remarkable decade. I’ve been privileged to repair, restore and preserve thousands of pipes over the last ten years, ranging from every-day smokers to family heirlooms and historically significant, museum-quality pieces belonging to pipe lovers from across Canada and around the world.

Many of these restorations have been recorded in some 550 blog posts (which have received more than half a million views) detailing the products and techniques employed in an effort to both share and preserve the knowledge and the craft of pipe repair. Many of the tools and techniques were experimental in the beginning. Some have since formed the cornerstone of my practice, while others have been revised or replaced with better, more efficient and less invasive options along the way.

Somewhere along the line, I also managed to find time to write and publish a book on the history of Brigham pipes. Warmly received by the pipe community, this small volume has become the go-to source for Brigham pipe fans and collectors worldwide. The latest version of the Brigham Shape Chart, included as Appendix A to the book, is very much a group effort, with information and photographs crowd-sourced from Brigham aficionados around the globe. Many thanks to all those who contributed to the project.

More than this, though, I am truly grateful for the personal connections made with pipe smokers everywhere. The global pipe community is a remarkable little corner of humanity, one small unifying force in what can sometimes be a fractured and contentious world.

Thank you for ten great years. I look forward to connecting with more pipe lovers and repairing and restoring many more pipes as DadsPipes moves into its second decade!
